One of the most exciting things for a college student is finally turning 21. This means you can go to bars with your friends and experience what New Brunswick has to offer. There are a few places to choose from, depending on what mood you are in. If you feel like you want to dance to top 40 pop you can always try Huey's Knight Club, Olde Queens Tavern, or even Scarlet Pub.

If you feel like you would rather sit down and chat with your friends or even meet new people, you can always go to Ale 'N 'Wich Pub or Olive Branch.

What all of these places have in common, however, is that they serve a mysterious drink: the Long Island Ice Tea. I think everyone has heard of it before, but does anyone know what is actually in it? This is why I have decided to find out what secret ingredients this drink has. After some research, I have discovered that the Long Island Ice Tea has many parts.

Ingredients:

2 cups ice cubes

1 oz vodka

1 oz gin

1 oz white rum

1 oz white tequila

1/2 oz Triple Sec

2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 cup cola, or to taste

2 lemon wedges

The idea is that you take all of the liquor and mix it vigorously and then add some cola at the end, to sweeten the taste. It is a very good choice for a night out, especially for $2 Tuesdays. I usually grab one of these when I go out with my friends at any of the aforementioned bars.

It is a pretty strong drink, so I do advise the consumption of it in moderation, with a sense of responsibility.

Otherwise, I hope this article has been helpful in clearing the mystery of the Long Island Ice Tea, one of the most beloved drinks in the New Brunswick bar scene.
